The lighthouse can be found in the historic quarter of Llanes, which is capital of the borough of the same name. Llanes itself is one of the most influential centres of tourism in the north of Spain.

Art and craft forms a part of the traditional culture of the area and has always complemented what could be made at home. These traditional skills and the use of local materials are being rediscovered.

The “Indiano“ Archives Foundation – Museum of Emigration is situated in the area of Colombres (Asturias), in the house known as Quinta Guadalupe which belonged to Iñigo Noriega Laso, emigrant to Mexico.

In the borough of llanes there still exist neighbouring boroughs which are relics of a prehistoric age. They are of real interest to visitors.

The Idol of Peña Tú (the monolith of Peña Tú)

 This national monument is located in the village of Puertas de Vidiago. It is a huge rock on whose sides there are paintings and carvings belonging to the Neolithic Age. There are various schematic figures and groups of dots .

The “ Camino de Santiago” has a great cultural and historic tradition and is part of the Spanish heritage linking as it does the present pilgrims with those of the past and Santiago with numerous places in Spain and in Europe.

The historic Route to Covadonga goes to the Santina's Sanctuary in Covadonga. It's divided into three stages and it had been taken up a few years ago. The route goes through amazing natural landscapes where people customs and rural environment persist to the present day.

There are always a thousand reasons to return to Llanes. Reasons such as the great natural beauty of its surroundings, its beaches, its lookout points. There is so much to enjoy of the beauty of the area.
